This Month’s Update: White Mountain & Wales, Alaska
Dear Friends and Supporters,
This month, the Wicked Good Dogs team traveled to White Mountain and Wales, Alaska, where winter has already settled in with nighttime temperatures dropping to around 10°F, fresh snowfall, and the river freezing solid enough for ice skating to begin.
Water Plant Boiler Repair
Dan Phinney of the Wicked Good Dogs Charity team traveled to White Mountain, Savoiga and Wales, Alaska, where winter has already settled in with nighttime temperatures dropping to 2 degrees
The village water plant — which supplies drinking water to every home and the school — had been operating without a functional boiler. The original Burnham U.S. Boiler unit, installed back
in 1972, had finally failed, putting the community at risk of losing its water supply entirely. Thanks to the parts donated by industry friends like TACO Comfort Solutions and U.S. Boiler that we brought with us, we were able to repair the system, restore heat, and ensure continued water service for the entire village.
Wicked Good Dogs Charity at it again!

Emergency Home Boiler Replacement
We were also able to replace a boiler in a home that had been without heat for several months. With the help of the local residents, we removed the old system and installed a complete new one in just two hours, finishing moments before I had to catch my flight home.

Winter in Alaska
The weather made our work challenging but rewarding — blowing snow, frozen rivers, and full‑force Alaskan winter conditions.

Special Thanks
We want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to U.S. Boiler and Taco for generously donating parts, T‑shirts, and flashlights. Your support went a long way in helping us complete these critical repairs and bring comfort back to the community.
The water plant’s heating system was powered by a U.S. Boiler cast iron unit, and it’s truly remarkable that, with some work, this decades‑old American‑made boiler is running strong again.

A funny note from the field — the circulating pump at the plant turned out to be a 20‑year‑old Taco pump, still going strong. A testament to the durability of U.S. manufacturing.

Thank you for supporting Wicked Good Dogs. Your contributions allow us to continue helping remote communities stay warm, safe, and supported through the toughest months of the year.
Warm regards,
Wicked Good Dogs Charity Team
